St. Joseph’s Ashram, Bharariwal

A plot of land for the purpose of building an Ashram, Chapel and School was bought in the year 2001. The land measuring 3 acres is lying on the way to Chabal, about 4 kms from the Amritsar Bus Stand. It comes under the Amritsar Municipal Corporation. We have also procured a plot of land measuring 440 sq. m. for putting up a convent. On August 31, 2002, Br. Jeremias and former Br. Antony Thenakara moved into the new site and accommodated themselves in a temporary house.
The foundation stone for the school building was laid on November 21, 2002 by the then vice-provincial Br. Thomas Pullatt. Coaching classes for Class I began on February 20, 2003. The school was inaugurated on March 24 2003 by Rt. Rev. Bp. Symporian Keeprath of Jalandhar. The Sisters of Sts. Capitanio and Jerosa arrived on February 13, 2003, to render their services in the school as well as in the parish.
On March 05, 2015, foundation stone was laid for St. Joseph’s Ashram by Br. Mathew Joseph and it was blessed and inaugurated on February 22, 2016 by Br. Dominic Thirunilath. Later, St. Joseph’s Church was constructed on the first floor of the Ashram and was blessed and consecrated on September 2, 2023.
