Deenabandhu Ashram, Rattenpura

Inspired by the Franciscan ideals of poverty and simplicity, Br. Augustine Nattunilam put up a small hut in Rattenpura village to lead a life of hard work and contemplation. Afterwards Bhai Sradhanand (Abraham Mooken), too joined the ashram. He renamed it as Deenbandhu Ashram in memory of his guru, late Br. Augustine Deenabandhu of Kareilly.
He has developed it into a centre for prayer for priests, religious and lay people. Many sick people also go there in search of healing through prayer and medicine.

TESTAMENT OF ST. FRANCIS

The friars must be very careful not to accept churches or poor dwellings for themselves, or anything else built for them, unless they are in harmony with the poverty which we have promised in the Rule; and they should occupy these places only as strangers and pilgrims
